Bear Viewing at Redoubt Bay Lodge

After a beautiful 50-minute flight from Anchorage by floatplane, you will land at Redoubt Bay Lodge. The lodge offers the only accommodations on a 171,000 acre critical habitat area that's home to resident bears. This small, rustic lodge sits on a knoll overlooking Big River Lakes, a chain of lakes whose waters are host to sockeye and Coho salmon runs.

The emphasis at Redoubt Bay Lodge during the summer months is the spectacular natural terrain surrounding the lodge, the local wildlife residents, and what we can learn from this fragile and special environment. While at the lodge, and in the company of trained guides, you may observe brown (grizzly) bears fishing for salmon and exploring their natural habitat. The cozy wilderness lodge and each of the 3 cabins offer rustic comfort amidst spectacular scenery.

There are other activities at the lodge, including canoeing or kayaking on the lake, animal tracking, hiking with trained guides, and relaxing at the lodge.
